My Technique & Style:
I’m not a realist painter in the traditional sense, nor are my paintings photographic. My subjects whilst existing in the real world, they are not “real” representations of what the naked eye would see. I try to show everything clearly and let the eye wander over the painting picking up parts to view, everything in focus, revealing the visible. The same way I might look at something in the world, examining everything, every detail.
In the painting only the composition is simplified, stripped of unwanted clutter, creating a type of stylisation, however nothing is stripped from the main subject of the painting.
Whilst all my paintings are representational, they are not limited to a particular style and the experimentation of oil paint plays a major role in my art.

1999: Final Year Exhibition Rhodes University Grahamstown.
2000: Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting, Art History & Psychology.
2000 to 2002: Research & Teaching Assistant for the Rhodes Fine Arts Department.
2002 to 2008: Ran an online philatelic & postal history business.
2008: Started painting full time.
